The Herbert Family Association (the HFA) incorporated in NSW and of PO Box 8278, Werrington County, NSW, 2747 Australia, is a not for profit organisation representing its members established in 1987 and operated by an elected committee of between ten and twelve members on behalf of its paid membership across Australia and beyond.
As part of its activities, the HFA collects a range of personal data for and on behalf of its members for the purposes of family history research only.
The HFA, its committee members and any volunteer working on behalf of the former will not knowingly pass on any private information about its members collected for the administration of the association itself.
The HFA, its committee members and any volunteer working on behalf of the former, will not knowingly pass on any information, collected in the course of family history research and publishing, to a third party without the knowledge of the member.
The HFA, in conjunction with others, operates a number of web pages based on the promotion of the above association and family history in general. Subscribers to these sites are advised that no ‘cookies’ or other unseen records are maintained.
The HFA, and any volunteer working on behalf of the former, will not knowingly pass on any personal information collected from Internet submissions without the knowledge of the subscriber. However, it is pointed out that neither the HFA, its committee members and its volunteers can prevent the collection of personal data displayed on the web site by third parties. It is understood that anyone submitting material to the sites does so in the full knowledge that such material may be collected by a third party without the permission of the submitter, or the HFA, its committee members and its volunteers. It is pointed out that under the provisions of the current Australian legislation, privacy laws only apply to living persons.
