The Herbert Family Association
Who We Are
The Herbert Family Association Inc. is an association of the descendants of First Fleet convicts John Herbert (c1760 – 1832) and First Fleet convict Deborah Ellam (1765 – 1819), and John and his second wife, convict Anne Dudley (1785 – 1838). The association was formed by a small group of their descendants in 1987 in preparation for Australia’s bicentennial celebrations in 1988. …….more.
DEBORAH ELLAM’S GREAT GRANDPARENTS
JONATHAN RYLANDS AND MARY

Deborah Ellam’s great-grandfather, her mother’s grandfather, was Jonathan Rylands. Jonathan was baptised at St Elphin’s church in Warrington on 28 August 1681. His father was John Rylands, but the baptism entry does not show their residence. However it is most likely that Jonathan Rylands was born on a farm in Fearnhead, about 3 km east of Warrington.
See the September 2018 Issue of Fragments for the full story on Deborah’s Maternal Great Grandparents, the Rylands.
